Air Conditioning Questions, Answered Plainly

Air conditioning Morphett Vale questions come to us every week, so we have gathered the honest answers here. Morphett Vale homes run everything from ageing ducted units to brand new splits, and most people want the same things sorted: cost, speed and who is actually doing the work.

Questions

Aircon Pricing Questions

Money is the first question for most households, so here is how we handle it.

How much does a new air conditioner cost?

It depends on the system type, the capacity and the layout of the house, so we inspect first and then hand you a fixed quote before any work starts, with no hourly rates. Read more about air conditioning installation.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. We work on Fixed Upfront Pricing, which means the figure we quote is the figure you pay, so a job running long never turns into bill shock for you.

Is there a discount for new customers?

Yes, new customers get $50 off first service, and we also carry a 10% pensioner discount, so it is worth mentioning when you ring and book the job in.

Questions

Availability and Emergency Callouts

A dead system does not check the calendar first, and neither do we.

Can you come out after hours or on weekends?

Yes, we hold 24/7 emergency availability, because a system that dies on a Sunday evening in February cannot wait until Tuesday to be looked at properly.

How quickly can you respond to an urgent fault?

Urgent air conditioning issues get a Within-the-Hour Response where availability allows, so ring us and we will tell you straight away what the earliest arrival looks like. Urgent faults sit under our repairs service.

Questions

Licensing and Compliance Questions

You are letting a stranger into your roof space, so the paperwork matters.

Are your technicians licensed for refrigerant work?

Yes, our refrigerant work runs under ARC Licence L162586, an RAC01 - Full Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Licence, which covers installation, servicing and decommissioning.

Are you insured for work in my home?

We are fully licensed and insured, and we are a local, family-owned business with 500+ 5-star reviews behind the work, so your place is in safe hands.

Questions

Choosing a Cooling or Heating System

The right system depends on the house, the budget and how you live in it.

Should I choose a split system or ducted?

A split system suits one or two rooms, while ducted air conditioning reaches the whole house from the roof. Many single-storey brick-veneer homes here suit either, so we inspect first. See our split system air conditioning and ducted air conditioning pages.

Does evaporative cooling actually work in this climate?

It does, because Adelaide's dry summer heat is exactly what evaporative units are built for, and they run cheaply, though they need windows open and lose ground on humid days. More on evaporative cooling.

Can one system handle both heating and cooling?

A reverse cycle system does both seasons with one unit. Gas ducted heats only, so households wanting the single-system option usually land on reverse cycle for our hot summers and cold winters.

How often should my system be serviced?

Once a year before summer is the safe rhythm, because a long dry cooling season loads filters and coils with dust, and a clean system costs less to run and lasts longer. Book a clean.

Which brands do you install and service?

We work with Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu and ActronAir, covering split, ducted and reverse cycle units, and we will recommend the brand that fits your house and budget.
